Kicking the shadows /// 11:46 PM
WANLING'S birthday was yesterday!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL! :)
Amazingly, it was full attendance for the first time since Feb this year. woohoo! Were supposed to eat in Minori restaurant but we arrived to find out that it was fully booked for the evening. and it was my fault cuz i didn make any reservations. ahh.
So, we settled for a
Jap BBQ restaurant where we bbqed pork, chicken, beef, sashimi, oysters.. (yum yum) plus some sort of rice with various dishes mixed inside. The rice is rather unique in the sense that it's something i've never tried before.
After that, we headed off to
Bakerzin where we shared
aglio olio spaghetti, ham and bacon penne and ordered another 3 desserts, which by the way were fantasticalicious. :) The warm chocolate cake with vanilla icecream is simply heavenly and above it all, the ambience is marvellous - purrrfect for a girls' night out!
As usual, Eileen and my stomachs' were still craving for more and all of us walked to Clark Quay and scouted for cafes there. Saw a totally drunk man who scared the hell out of us as he was swinging his beer bottle wildly and was entirely out-of-control. The last time we caught a glance of him was when he was sprawled on the floor, next to a group of caucasians who were laughing at him. Perhaps he was trying to drown his sorrows and it seemed to be working pretty well - too well for his own good i must say.
Ended up in
Coffee Club and chatted over a big plate of wedges. Sadly, wanling had to leave cuz her parents were waiting to celebrate with her too. The remaining 4 of us continued to chat into the night until chia ling had to say byebye.
Before the night was over, eileen, mabel and i stayed a little while longer and had a few drinks outside "
The Rupee Room". Great night with the girls once again and i just have to say that these 7 years of friendship is really one of the the best things in life! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN WANLING!
LOVE YOU DEARLY. :)
Well, the fun is over and i've to get back to my books. Bleah.
My sis left for Fu Zhou this afternoon, with her acjc mates for a CIP program where she has to go to the rural areas to teach English. Even though i agree that she does have to exercise the compassionate side of her once in a while, the melancholic thing is that she'll be many many miles away from me for 11 days! :(((
Though it has been less than 24 hours since she's gone,
im already starting to miss her.
-Thank You, Lord, for Your handicrafts. -
NO STRESS /// 12:43 PM
Do you know that
STRESS can
harm the immune system as it impairs the functioning of the white blood cells. It can also
increase the risk of infection after receiving a wound. Prior to that, it can
affect the growth of various
cancerous tumours and
indirectly lead to heart disease.
However, there's nothing to worry about! CUZ lifestyles can make a difference.
Intensive changes in diet, exercise, stress management and social support can reverse the negative health effects. (All these are supported by evidence; they are not invented by me though i wished) HUMOUR and THOUGHT REPRESSION are few of the many coping strategies to deal with stress. For example, LAUGHTER leads to the dilation of intter lining of blood vessel, causing blood flow to increase (Miller et al, 2005). Also, humour is very likely to change our cognitive appraisal of a pressurising situation and somehow, it indirectly results in a
boost in the immune system. :)
To conclude, start studying early to avoid last-min STRESSOUTS and frustrated hair-pulling. Add in short breaks once in a while to have a kit-kat. haha. Well. Time-management is the key!
Bottom Line: LIFE IS SHORT. TAKE IT EASY.
CHRISTMAS! /// 11:49 PM
Mum doesnt allow me to go to the states with ciyuan anymore. She finds that 4 months is too long a trip, the geographical distance is too huge and worries about our safety. Hmm. :(
School is ending and there are 3 more weeks to the end-of-year exams.
Well, mid-term results have been kinda extreme, with grades ranging from
A to
C.So i gotta work harder!!
Note to self: Think of useful studying tactics.
Last psychology tutorial (before semester ends) at 8 tmr.
