Reality creeps in. /// 10:04 PM

Was back since Wednesday night and the zenith of the week has been the much-awaited genting trip, which rocketed past just like Apollo 13Saturn V.

Upon arrival, we spent quite a lot time checking in - they have rather inefficient methods of obtaining the hotel keys, and after exploring our hotel rooms (and a failed attempt at prankcalling the guys) , we spent the rest of the noon walking around the shopping mall and purchasing stuff. Had a sumptuous buffet @ Coffee Terrace and it was not bad! Pigged out on the wide array of international food and i really love love love the asam laksa and desserts! Then something unexpected happened which i shant mention and we spent the rest of the night at the arcade and later, playing bridge till the wee hours.

Second day was surrendered to the shops and Outdoor Theme Park. After having overslept, we skipped our breakfast buffet and headed straight to the retail shops since it was raining that morn. When the mist and rain had cleared, decided to give the theme park a try and it was quite worthwhile. Such a pity we only had a few rides on the roller coasters and honestly, i think im becoming more daring. Those humongous, 360-degrees rides were something i would never have considered being on in the past, but it just seems so thrilling to be on one this time. Facing the giants huh. :)

That night, poor Angie fell terribly ill; she got me really freaked out. Kept vomitting almost the entire night and she had to be taken to the clinic, where we woke the doctor and the receptionist. With his half-open eyes, he gave her a jab for gastritis and i just felt like helping him to open his eyelids wider. Worse still, it was the wrong prescription as he found out later, that the cause of her vomitting was due to the fact that she took in too much air during the rides. Gosh.

Well, thank goodness she recovered in time for our journey down and while she slept almost the entire way back due to her medicine, tested jiahao for his rp test (which was the next day and he passed!) and played card games which got us in high spirits.

The days after the short getaway totally contrasted the life in genting.
They constitute work, driving lessons, 3 tuitions daily, worship practice, birthday celebrations and meetups and this lifestyle will only end when school starts, i hope.

I need 2 AA Energizer please.

- Thank You, Lord, for a safe and blessed trip. -

A moment of silence. /// 11:25 PM

Finally met wanting yesterday! :D Had lunch in chinatown where she introduced some delicious sliced beehoon fish soup and also drank Koi's addictive bubble tea! Though time spent was limited to 2 hours as both of us had work, still managed to do some updating:)

After work last night, marcus came over around 10 and cooked delicious-looking dinner. haha really appreciate it! thanks love!

Speaking about that, it brings back fond memories of his birthday, where i prepared a 3-course meal for him! First time yo. The night before, surprised him with a taxi ride to Santa Fe. Had requested the driver to keep mum bout the destination beforehand and marcus had to close his eyes the entire time in the cab. Only allowed him to open them once we were within 5 metres of Santa Fe:)

Woke up early next morning and did something i've never tried before - cooking! And i guess my first attempt wasnt so bad, though it loooked pretty gross. But LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING:) dearest jean sacrificed her beauty sleep and helped prepare the food too. A few bimbotic moments here and there, like putting the ham into the freezer cuz didnt know that they were already cooked and we had to like thaw them. ha

Chicken Caesar Salad
(accidentally pressed backspace and poof went the photo. Too lazy to upload it again but fyi, it looked much better than Mr Mac and Cheese)

Macaroni and cheese

*The black things are not mould. They are mushrooms.

Ice cream + Chocolate brownie

Took a clueless him on a bus ride to Changi, where we walked the entire Changi Beach Park, just talking and spending time together.

Cycled to East Coast after that, where famished us had quite a feast and lived happily ever after?

Give thanks /// 11:52 PM

Note to self: Im still on the path to healthy living :)

Went to Ubin for a cycling trip with angie, eve, yiqi, jiahao and hoyin today! Needless to say, it was great fun. We rode over rocky terrains and menacing humps which proved to be quite an obstacle, but the anticipation of speeding down slopes energized my legs and i'd say it was all worth the effort.

At one point, after overcoming steep and narrow slopes, we arrived at the peak of the trail, which oversees a panoramic view of huge cliffs and a river on one side, and the vast sea with what-looked-like-puny-objects-from-afar, objects you call ships. An interesting experience is attempting to cook our lunch using fuel and tin right there and then under the fiery hot sun. Mingled with curiosity and admiration, I tried to observe how it could be done and surprisingly, it was really simple: Jiahao found 4 stones, each the size of a palm, and placed them in the shape of a square. Then he lit the fuel (though he had a hard time doing so cuz of the wind), but once it was done, he dropped it into the square and we started boiling water in the tin and cooked mee goreng with hot dogs + a can of curry chicken and chilli tuna.

Quite yummy! It kinda felt as if we were little girls and boys living in the kampong during the communal days cuz we were like surrounding one tin excitedly and getting our meals from there.

After dinner at Changi Village, rushed off to the other end of little red dot for prayer session at 8. Really hope that the session has encouraged the youth to pray more openly!

Well anyway, swam with wanting again during the course of this week. And i'd say that my stamina is improving. Though i still swim as slow as a tortoise, at least the number of laps accomplished each time is increasing. Yay!

Lastly, something that has been at the back of my mind since Monday - A short trip to Genting next week! Mum did move an inch after all! :D

- Thank You, Lord, for watching over us today. -

My best /// 11:24 PM

Something i learnt today,
One doesnt have to ensure that he or she must always be in control. It's alright to let your hair down and let things run by themselves once in a while.

Led worship today with Charmaine as the pianist, Jean as the keyboardist, Jennifer and Jovan as the guitarists and though i feel that it didnt went as well as i would have wanted it to be, im still thankful that they have put in the effort to practise. And Pastor Leng gave the thumbs-up! Yay! Lets continue to improve and serve in the church together:)

In the evening, i donned on a too-baggy top and fbt shorts for some sports later @ Temasek and walked to Marcus' house. On my way there, i bumped into his mum. She asked a startled me to hop onto her car and a few minutes later, found myself in the middle of Bugis. Though she just wanted me to accompany her for her shopping trip, it was kinda embarrassing being seen in such a bustling area, clad only in my home clothes.

Here's a riddle shared by her:

"What do H1n1 quarantined patients eat?"

Answer: Roti Prata

Because it is the only food which can be delivered through the slit at the door.

Well, had dinner with his family at Temasek Club and had a few rounds of basketball and badminton. Yeah, badminton with the pros. By the end of it all, droplets of perspiration just flowed freely down my cheeks and dripped off from my chin like raindrops during a downpour. Nonetheless, it was awesome!

Then, we ate crabs and chicken wings back at his house :)
*Marcus grew 1.5kg heavier after that. haha

-Thank You, Lord, for sharing sessions. -

The boulder MUM refuses to bulge:(

Scriptures coming alive /// 1:25 AM

"He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it because it was well built.

But the one who hears my words but does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation.

The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

"Here and now" to "Eternity" /// 10:21 PM

Swimming in Safra is way better than in any other pools.

With music blaring over the speakers, it pumps the adrenaline into one's blood and gives one the perseverance to complete the lap. Enjoyed my swim with wanting this beautiful morning, with the occasional sun peeking through the clouds. Well, shant mention about some of the silly stuff we did in the water:)

Found myself eating supper after work last night. Was supposed to visit Daniel with Cheryl but somehow he wanna go makan, so he drove his new hyundai to Henderson. Left the place at 11 with a satisfied burping stomach and some astonishing news.

Vivoed with Tingyou and Angie yesterday noon, and Angie (who determinedly said that she was just "going in to take a look") purchased a pullover from Pull and Bear. A top caught my attention as well but it isn't on sale. Had a hard time trying to prevent my legs from making their way to the cashier with that piece in my hands and I SUCCEEDED (though i conveniently went back to view it again since i was @ Vivo today).

On a final note, teaching is doubly fun:)

-Thank You, Lord, for praise. -

I am. /// 11:57 PM

Something is seriously wrong with me. Been drinking bubble tea ever more than often during the past 2 weeks. I know that eating too many pearls is a big NO NO, but the thought of chewing those sweet little balls is just so tempting.

Just came back from a farewell party for Crystal who will be going abroad to study. Really like Marcus' churchmates cuz they are so friendly and most of all, able to clique with:)

Currently, am working at a tuition centre, teaching pri - sec school students. And im so grateful cuz im enjoying this job of mine! The interactions, the cuteness, such innocence, their smiles widening when they are able to solve the more challenging questions... give me a sense of fulfilment. Therefore, am seriously considering NIE once again! :)

Oh, and babysitting makes me feel 10 years younger. Played doll house and i tried mimicking the different characters by creating all kinds of pitches w.r.t. the characters and it encouraged her to create voices for hers as well, which left us giggling with the ridiculous sounds that came out of our mouths. It felt silly but seriously, who cares.
Shared lunch and we watched tv while eating-something her parents have never allowed. Oh and i adore the way she said bye to her terrapins when she was leaving for school. Aww :)

Met up with Meizhen, Darren (who just came back from Imperial College and is having his summer break now) and Max last night. Loads of great fun with them @ Crystal Jade. Headed to Cold Rock Cafe after that, but got out right after we found some corner seats in the super packed place cuz we realised that there was no use competing with the band which was blasting into the microphone. Chilled at Coffee Bean instead with my iced belgium chocolate latte.

Dinner with my girlfriends on Tuesday

And i caught the flu bug too, from either Tian or Cheryl when we + Karo played bridge in her house on monday. Woke up with a runny nose and sorethroat the next morning. Feeling slightly panicky, took a trip down to the doctor, who assured me that i should be fine.

Okay. Im so gonna sleep early.
Say NO to eyebags.

- Thank You, Lord, for Esther. -
