It's great to be surrounded by like-minded people, all of whom are walking towards the same goal as I am:)
Attachment ended on a light note today, with us presenting our special item during contact time (but it did not garner as much laughter as we've thought it would have haha). Nonetheless, the course of these 4 weeks have prepared me for life as a teacher. It's going to be tough, but isn't that what makes us grow? I'm thankful for wonderful colleagues and supervisors who have made my experience all the more worthwhile.
I wish my life were full of these moments, but I guess the rarity of it makes it all the better.

I am blessed with the sweetest friends!
Yesterday, I received a letter which came in a cute envelope and a sticker that says 'love one another', and a photoframe consisting of a photo which Evelyn, Donica and I took together when we celebrated Donica's birthday in school. Occasionally, Eve will also cook scrumptious food for us to share such as Yong Tao Foo. At times when i least expect it, little surprises lie waiting on the desk and they come in many forms such as kueh and sweets.
We had a presentation on our project in front of the ex-co members today and I was rather nervous initially but it went well. Thought of a great idea for our sharing experience which we also have to present on the last day, in front of all the staff in school and it incorporates some musical instrument and singing. Looking forward to preparation tmr!
Unfortunately, the attachment will end in 2 days' time and life will go back to normal.
Or maybe teaching has slowly but surely seeped into many aspects of my life.
Maybe my life has changed, one way or another. The interaction I have with the pupils, teachers and nonteaching staff, have taught me valuable life lessons which I can bring with me, to grow as a person of character and stature.

I've definitely found my calling /// 7:41 PM
According to my CT,
i was (in her own words) 'super power in class today'. HAHAHA
She elaborated that it was due to the way I handled the class and she said I was fierce and firm. (I doubt many people will believe her though as I always have this soft and easy-to-bully look) Of course being fierce doesnt always require a dressing down; it can take the form of getting my message across in a firm and dont-mess-with-me tone.
I usually have a low tolerance of noise level but I've closed half an eye during the past few days of teaching because I'd prefer a highly interactive session when teaching the kids rather than getting them all afraid of me during the 5 days. However, I had to punish quite a few kids including the prefects today because they did not obey the rules I've set for the class such as 'Talking when I am talking'.
To me, the main idea wasn't about the punishment (though it can of course cause extinction of behaviour) but it's about getting the kids to realise their own mistakes. Whenever a punishment is meted out, the most important thing to do is to ask them what they have done wrong and what alternative actions should they have done instead so that they will reflect and internalise their own misdeeds.
Uh oh. My tigeress psychologist self is emerging.
But honestly, despite the scoldings, I feel pretty bad.
Anyway, had an informal meeting with the principal today and she inspires me! With an amiable disposition, she's definitely one of the loveliest lady i've ever met.
She shared numerous stories about how her ex-students could ring her up years after she has taught them and told her how she has impacted their lives. She also shared about how there have few cases whereby teachers were even invited to their ex-students' wedding and were given a seat in the same table as their parents.
And one of the greatest takeaways was when i asked her why she chose to become a principal, she shared that she actually did not intend to; she was thrusted into the leadership path by her superiors, who believed in her. If given a choice, she would really want to return to being a teacher as she misses the times whereby she could impact the pupils' lives and be involved on a more intimate level.

I vaguely remember loving the feeling of viewing the world upside down.
Handsome Dad brought me to the opening ceremony of his workplace
