Evidences show that segregation did
irreparable harm to the self-esteem of African American chlidren.
In an experiment, a vast majority of them chose to play with a white doll, thus rejecting the black doll as they thought that the white doll was "prettier and generally superior".
:((
i hate it that im hiding stuff from

Town Tomorrow. /// 10:52 PM
The weekend was- Joel's funfair at acs barker (
one of the best due to wide variety of food and games and had $200 to spend),
- Esther's wedding at Calvary Baptist church (
witnessing the wedding made me feel like walking down the aisle too =))
- After
2 became 1, Marcus and I met up with Sirong, Rick and Darrell. They drank. Bought like around 15 bottles - 4 different types of beers, and forced me to down one hoegaarden myself. Had quite a bit of difficulty though. Well, the usual bull session with several outbursts of mirth.
- Yesterday's dinner in a super spacious pub/ktv @ Temasek Club with Marcus' family where we ate satay + fried squid + chicken wings + a whole lotta other weight-gaining food. Pooled and played photohunt. Dared one another to sing the karaoke songs but none could muster the courage to sing in public.
crazy.Revision officially starts today.
Reflections for the day. /// 8:03 PM
Some interesting takeaways from social psychology today:
- people often strive for things that are unlikely to make them happier (e.g. earning lots of money) and overlook things that will make them happier (e.g. spending time with closed friends and loved ones) ->
totally agree-those who place a high value on $$ and possessions tend to be
less happy than people who place less value on $$ and possessions ->
yepp but in the current era, it seems like $$ is everything :(- One of the factors of initial interpersonal attraction is the
propinquity effect which states that people tend to be more attracted to those whom they see regularly. In a more psychological term, it occurs because of the
mere exposure effect, in which the more exposure people have to a neutral stimulus, the more positively it is evaluated.
- Useful studying tips: When
preparing for an exam (which requires learning of new material), it is
best to do so alone, away from others. Studying with friends creates a situation whereby the
arousal caused by others (in the form of distraction) will make it more difficult to concentrate. Therefore, maximum productivity will not be obtained unless done solely. Contrastingly, one who
sits for an exam alone tends to do worse as compared to in a packed environment cuz the presence of others improve one's performance, yet unknowingly (esp in the case where one is well prepared and knows his or her material well).
- Thank You, Lord, for reminders through friends. -
SOS /// 9:34 PM
Truckloads of thoughts swirling in my mind, but i just dont know where to start. Which of the latest activities/feelings/beliefs should i retrieve out of my mind? There seems to be so much to say, but they are all jumbled up, like a ball of wool tangled together.
Well, for one,
i am riven with anxiety cuz my dearest sister's A levels starts tmr
Secondly,
my studies has been cast aside due to a myriad of brillant escapades
Thirdly,
i feel so much better after the talk with Mum.
She taught me that
LOVE is a beautiful thing and on this point, science must concede to poetry.-Thank You, Lord, for mental strength and constant reminders. -
